Psychotherapist and Supervisor

I see individuals and couples.

Person-Centred Counsellor in England - London

I believe that the client knows best - what hurts, issues to address and changes to be made. Therefore I favour a non-directive approach. I endeavour to be empathic, non-judgmental and genuine.

Human Formation Coordinator & Counsellor

I work mainly with catholic clergy and seminarians training for the priesthood and work from a centre based in the grounds of a Catholic seminary.
I also have a small private practice working from the same location.

Rachel Yates Counselling

Counsellor in England - London

I’m a Qualified Person-Centred Counsellor, and an Accredited Registrant with the National Counselling Society. I offer long or short term, individual counselling in Walthamstow, East London, E17.  I use the pronouns ‘she/they’.

I am experienced in working with people with all kinds of issues and concerns and in differing levels of distress. I work with individual adults (18+) who are gay, straight, bi, queer, trans, cis, intersex, kink and sexuality/gender questioning.

I also work with people who may find it more difficult to access counselling and therapy including people who hear voices, people who have beliefs and experiences that others find unusual, people in emotional or psychological crisis, people in non-monogamous or poly-amorous relationships, activists, and people labelled with PTSD, schizophrenia or a personality disorder. I am committed to providing an inclusive, welcoming, safe and confidential space.

People can feel unacceptable, different or too complicated. They can have low self esteem or a feeling of worthlessness. I believe that acceptance by another human being can help us to feel acceptance for ourselves. I will listen to your story and try my best to understand you from your perspective, to understand what it feels like to be you and to have had your experiences.

I believe it is the relationship that heals, I am not afraid to sit with you no matter who you are or how you feel. I am confident that I will not reject you and that we can build a strong relationship that is a base for exploration and change. Your anxiety, stress and nervousness will not put me off you. Getting to know you and building your trust are key to creating a relationship in which you have the chance to unburden yourself of things you may never say to anyone else. This can clear your mind for new thoughts and help to build your own knowledge of yourself.

I am a Person Centred Counsellor, this means that I work with you at your pace and with the material that you choose to share. I view counselling as a way of beginning a process of self reflection which you can continue throughout your life.

Person centred counselling helps to peel away outside influences, given to us by family, friends partners, religion, our culture and society. It can help you to find out what makes you tick, what makes life worth living for you, what is important to you and what you want to do. It can help to relieve anxiety, depression and feelings of panic. It can lessen a desire to be in control and help you to embrace the changes that are inevitable in life. Relationship issues can be explored and new ways of behaviour can be developed. It is an incredibly fulfilling type of counselling to deliver and I believe my clients find it a fulfilling experience too.

Counsellor/Psychotherpist in England - South East

I have a history of helping clients from a wide range of differing backgrounds and treating many problems and disorders with great success. These include: Depression, Emotional Trauma, Anxiety, Grief, Stress, Obsessions and Compulsions, Anger Issues, Low self-esteem, Family Trauma, Addictions, Social Interaction.
The therapy is directed to enlighten you and empower you with a full understanding, acceptance and love for who you are, how you became the person you are today and how you can change what needs to be changed. This awareness and understanding can completely change the outcome of how one deals with other people and situations in both their inner and outer world.

Person-Centred Counsellor and Psychotherapist in England - West Midlands

I have been helping people with all forms of mental distress ranging from anger, anxiety, depression, bereavement, mania, traumatic experiences, having to deal with stress at work or at uni, relationship problems, relationship breakups, sexual problems, loneliness, panic attacks, or many other issues. While I understand that this distress is very real it seems important to me the way we usually describe mental distress usually just captures the symptoms of that distress. The journey of making sense of the distress is what the process of therapy is about and it always involves understanding and dealing with the unique personal circumstances of each person.

Living in London can be hard in so many ways. If you are also overwhelmed by difficult events, painful memories, a dark cloud of feelings, or repetitive, anxious thoughts and behaviours, it can be so much harder.
However, counselling or longer-term psychotherapy can make a great difference to your sense of well-being and your ability to cope with adverse circumstances. Through therapy it is possible to start feeling positive about life once more.

Some of the many benefits of seeing a counsellor are:
– Breaking out of the dead-end cycle of anxious thoughts and feelings.
– Dissolving the black cloud of depression.
– Letting go of difficult experiences and feelings in the past and moving on.
– Regaining – or finding for the first time – a feeling of contentment about your life.

Therapy is also a place where you can explore yourself, your thoughts, your feelings, your relationships, your past and your hopes for the future.

Many techniques may be useful in counselling. But ultimately it's the power of the good 'therapeutic relationship' between counsellor and client, which underpins successful counselling.
