Accessibility comments
My practice room is on the ground floor. There is one small step on to a platform and then one more small step to the front door, fitted with grab handles, which wheelchair users have previously successfully managed. There is one flight of stairs with double handrails to the toilet. Unfortunately, wheelchair accessible toilets are not currently available.

I work as a counsellor and clinical supervisor in private practice. I began counselling people in 1999. I offer a safe, reflective space for you to be heard in a non-judgmental way. I listen very closely to what you say and work with you to help you gain a deeper understanding of your own thoughts and feelings. The relationship we develop between us forms the basis of our work together. From my varied experience I have developed the ability to appreciate given situations from different perspectives. I am committed to promoting equal opportunities and working with people in an anti-discriminatory way. All my work is professionally supervised on a monthly basis and I am CRB checked and fully insured.

My previous experience includes working in the engineering and construction industries. I then decided to change direction and worked as an IT tutor and youth worker before beginning my counselling training in 1997. Since 1999 I have gained experience working as a volunteer counsellor, a paid counsellor and a paid staff counsellor and clinical supervisor in counselling charities and counselling and support agencies. I have also established, managed and co-ordinated counselling services and recruited staff and delivered training events.

FREE MUTUAL ASSESSMENT SESSION
As part of my counselling service I offer a free Mutual Assessment Session, subject to availability, lasting up to one hour to enable us to decide if we can work together and if so what that work may encompass. This is not a counselling session but instead it is an initial meeting where we can both get a sense of each other. You can use the time to briefly outline the concerns that bring you to counselling and ask any questions that you might have. I will listen carefully to what you say, gather some information about yourself and then discuss with you how we could work together to help you. This process should help you decide if counselling with me is the right thing for you to do.
